- The Development Authority of Powder Springs was created and exists to promote the development of trade, commerce, industry, and employment opportunities within the corporate limits of the City of Powder Springs.
- DAPS consists of a board of not less than seven and no more than nine directors who are
appointed by the municipal governing authority to serve staggered four-year terms appointed by
the governing municipal body.
- All DAPS board members must take at least eight hours of authority board training within the first 12 months of their appointment to the DAPS.
Regularly scheduled meetings on the 2nd Thursday evening of every other month.
- Reports to the Mayor and City Council through the Economic Development Director.
a) The directors shall be taxpayers residing in the county or municipal corporation for which the authority is created.
(b) The governing authority of a county or municipality may appoint no more than one member of the governing authority as a director.
The Development Authority shall have such power and authority as is conferred upon them by the Development Authority Law, as the same now exists or may hereafter be amended, and such other power and authority as may be contained under the Constitution and the Laws of the State of Georgia as the same may now or hereafter exist (O.C.G.A. 36-62 or the most current and applicable O.C.G.A section).
