CERT Training Classes February 9-11

The City of Powder Springs is working to establish a Civic CERT team and will offer its 2nd annual training opportunity February 9, 10 and 11. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. It is the first step in joining a damage assessment team, a medical operations team, a search and rescue team, which would come later following additional training associated with that respective team. Even if you are not interested in being on a team, this CERT training will provide you basic training to take care of yourself and your families until first responders are able to respond to a disaster area.

If you are interested in this first step training opportunity, please complete the attached application and return to by January 25. This 21 hour course will be from 8-5 each day with graduation on the 3rd day. We hope you will be able to join us.
